How to Get Better Sleep: 7 Tips You Probably Haven’t Tried

How to Get Better Sleep: 7 Tips You Probably Haven’t Tried

INSIDE: We all struggle to get the quality sleep we need and the same old advice is… well, old. Here are 7 tips for how to get better sleep that you probably haven’t tried before.

We all know that when we sleep, we restore and heal the body and mind. Healthy sleep makes us happy and more productive, and it reduces our stress.

But more than that, quality sleep helps us in the following ways:

  • During the NREM and recovery phases, we reprogram our innate behaviors.
  • During the REM phase, we improve memory fixation and facilitate the incorporation of new behaviors that were learned during wakefulness.

The importance of good sleep does not need to be reiterated, but knowing how to get better sleep is still something most of us struggle with.

7 Tips You Probably Haven’t Tried for How to Get Better Sleep

The normal tips are a little overdone at this point, don’t you think? So here are a few tips you probably haven’t heard of…

Use Cosmonaut Bedding

Poor bedding can definitely ruin your nighttime rest. You’ve probably noticed a difference between your bed and hotel beds, for example.

As we lie down, we want to give much-needed rest to our spine and neck, because it creates the perfect setup for a restful night’s sleep and a refreshed awakening.

So, the first thing that needs to be addressed for how to get better sleep is your pillow.

We all have our own idea of what is comfortable, but most vertebrologists and consumers prefer memory foam.

Developed by NASA laboratories, this material fixes so many sleep problems that it makes for a topic of its own (you can check it out here).

Turn to the Earth’s Frequency

The natural frequency that crystals and stones give off can help us ward off thoughts and worries, allowing us to sleep better and have pleasant dreams.

Place any of the stones and crystals from the list below on your bedside table, under your pillow, or in a bowl under your bed to allow their vibrations to come into contact with our aura.

  • Amethyst
  • Fluorite
  • Jade
  • Labradorite
  • Golden Labradorite
  • Larimar
  • Meteorite
  • Barite
  • Sapphire
  • Green Aventurine
  • Muscovite

Get Your Essential Oils Fix

Aromatherapy and essential oils are an effective remedy for regaining harmony and tranquility. It’s one of the most ancient tips for how to get better sleep.

The heavenly scent of essential oils like Lavender, Chamomile, or Ylang-Ylang, or Jasmine has an aromatherapeutic affect on the body and mind, relaxing us and preparing us for a good night’s sleep.

Try the following methods to learn how to get better sleep:

  • Apply them directly to the skin, perhaps with a massage from your partner (Use 2-3 drops and dilute them with Fractionated Coconut Oil mode).
  • Place 5-7 drops in your bath water.
  • Just open the bottle and sniff it.
  • Place 5 drops in a diffuser and let it permeate the air around you.

Keep it Cool

Pay attention to the temperature of the room. Make sure it is cooler than you would normally like it. We get more peaceful rest when the air is cool.

According to Healthline, the ideal sleeping temperature is 65°F. This is because while we are sleeping, our circadian rhythm helps the body to shed excess heat.

When the room is too warm, it doesn’t allow the body to release the heat and our sleep gets disturbed.

Don’t Overindulge Before Bed

If you want to know how to get better sleep, don’t overdo heavy foods or foods that can cause stomach acid and gastric stress, especially if you have a late dinner.

At the same time, try to abstain as much as possible from alcohol and smoking because these things can cause fragmented and erratic sleep. Not only will you feel unrested when you awaken, but you’ll have that “not quite rested” appearance in the morning.

Instead, remember to stay hydrated by drinking at least half your weight in water each day and choosing a healthy and balanced diet that is rich in fiber, fruits, and vegetables.

Prepare for the Next Day Early

As soon as you get home in the evening or after dinner, dedicate yourself to all the classic chores of the evening routine, such as cleaning up the house, taking a hot bath, getting the kids ready for school, setting out your clothes for the next day, etc.

Then let yourself relax for the rest of the evening so that you can fully relax and prepare your body and mind for an amazing night of rest.

Use Blue Light Glasses at Night

Let’s face it, we are all surrounded by blue light from our electronics and we are usually looking at them right up until we go to sleep.

Blue light suppressed the release of melatonin in the body, which is what helps us relax into a night of restful sleep. By wearing blue light glasses as you watch TV or browse on your phone at night, you’ll put an end to that suppression.
