Personal Growth Books: 10 of My Favorites

Personal Growth Books: 10 of My Favorites

INSIDE: I’m excited to share ten of my favorite personal growth books with you! These are the cream of the crop, the absolute best of the best as far as I’m concerned.

The following personal growth books have certainly helped make me who I am today and have helped me to enjoy more happiness, love, and tranquility in my life, not to mention the inspiration to accomplish great things. Perhaps they will be life-transforming for you as well!

My Favorite Personal Growth Books

10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace (Puffy Books)

Wayne Dyer is one of my all time favorite authors and his recent death was the first “celebrity death” that really affected me. I cried for days, but I am so thankful for all the incredible wisdom he has left behind for us. This is the personal growth book I turn to when I need a quick pick me up. It is short and easy to read, and you can easily turn to any page in the book and gain an instant mindset shift. This also makes a beautiful gift because it contains full color pages throughout.

You Can Heal Your Life

This self help gem by Louise Hay was the first book that helped me really understand the mind-body connection. It allows you to easily look up an ailment to see where it is originating from mentally/emotionally, and it also is chuck full of positive affirmations to help you move out the negative energy and restore your health.

Your Hidden Riches: Unleashing the Power of Ritual to Create a Life of Meaning and Purpose

I found the title of this book to be very deceiving because it made me think of prosperity, but the sub-title is very accurate. This book taught me how to put more intention into the way I go about my day and to create simple rituals that allow me to be more authentic each day of my life. Because of it, I am able to enjoy life more by bringing more of me into my daily routine.

Animal-Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small

While the title of this book might not seem like a personal development book, it sooooo is. It helped me to awaken to the fact that everything is connected and that there are signs all around us that prove that fact everyday. When a certain animal crosses my path, I can pull out this book and find out what significance that might have for me. Not only is it often very helpful and accurate, but it is really fun too. There are members of my family who text me saying things like, “I just saw a fox! What does that mean?”

The Reconnection: Heal Others, Heal Yourself

This book really helped me to get in touch with the energy that makes up everything. By doing the activities in the book, I was able to actually feel that energy and connect with it in a way that I never even considered would be possible for me before. It’s quite transformative.

The Art of Bliss: Finding Your Center, Getting in the Flow, and Creating the Life You Desire

This is a book about feng shui, but it is so much more than that. It is a really fun book to read. It helps you understand the energy of your personal environment in a new light, while also weaving in other holistic practices and personal growth strategies to help you create the life you really want.

Emergence: Seven Steps for Radical Life Change

I found this to be a very unique take on the personal development and self growth space. There are so many insights in this book that I had never considered before, even after having read hundreds of self help books. It’s sure to enlighten you in new ways.

Angel Medicine

Doreen Virtue used to be another favorite author of mine (until she completely changed everything she writes about). She used to write books about angels and fairies, and she opened my eyes up to new possibilities in life. This book, in particular, is a favorite of mine because she wrote it while she was in Greece and she had some pretty incredible experiences while there. If you feel drawn to Ancient Greece and Atlantis and to the spirituality of those places, you’ll love this book.

The Seat of the Soul: 25th Anniversary Edition with a Study Guide

This is the book that began my whole spiritual outlook on life. I grew up not really feeling like religion was for me, and this book helped validate what I felt in my heart about universal energy, reincarnation, karma and spirituality. If metaphysics intrigues you, this is a must read.

Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting Playbook, The: Revised Edition

This is a workbook that coincides with the book, Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting, but you do not have to read the book to use the workbook. The author, Lynn Grabhorn, calls it a playbook, and that is what I found it to be too. It’s full of fun activities that get you thinking and help you learn more about yourself. It certainly doesn’t feel like work. The way it is arranged makes it playful and lighthearted.

Why Read Personal Growth Books?

Reading personal growth books is one of the best ways to improve your life. When I don’t read positive things like personal development books, I find myself getting more negative and stressed out. Reading positive things each day, even if it’s only for a few minutes at a time, keeps my mindset in a healthy place.

Reading positive things each day, even if it’s only for a few minutes at a time, keeps my mindset in a healthy, happy place. It also helps me to feel more inspired to live my best life.

Even if you are like me and you have read tons of self-help books already, it’s important to keep reading more. Different authors have different takes on things and say things in different ways. Plus, I find that the right books show up in my life at the perfect times – it always amazes me how that happens. Read books that call to you in the moment and you will always feel inspired to read.

What if I Don’t Have Time to Read?

I went through some times in my life when I felt like I never had time to read, and those were also some of the darkest times in my life. I set an intention to find time to read, and within two weeks, I had started and almost finished a new book!

How did I do it? I found small pockets of time when I would usually do something trivial like look at my Facebook feed on my phone, and I started keeping a book in the places where I usually did those things. Next thing I knew, I was finishing books like crazy and feeling uplifted and inspired at the same time!
