How To Enjoy Exercise When You Hate It

How To Enjoy Exercise When You Hate It

INSIDE: Working out is typically something we dread, but it doesn’t have to be. All you have to do is use creative tips like these to know how to enjoy exercise when you hate it.

We all know that exercise is essential. We all know that we should be doing it regularly and that it will keep us fit, healthy, and enable us to lose weight. But knowing all that still doesn’t mean we enjoy it, and that’s the problem.

If you don’t like something, the likelihood is you’ll keep putting it off. You’ll find other things to do instead, some of which will be the complete opposite, making the entire situation worse.

Luckily, there are several things you can do to help you learn how to enjoy exercise when you hate it, and once you get started, it will be much easier to keep going.

5 Tips for How to Enjoy Exercise When You Hate It

Here are some of the best tips to help you enjoy exercise even when you hate it…

Work Out With A Friend

Working out alone can be tedious, even for those who love doing exercise. If you have a friend with you, whether you’re in the gym, out for a cycle ride, walking around the block, swimming, or taking a fitness class, the time will go more quickly, and it will all be a lot more fun.

Not only will having someone there be more enjoyable, but you’ll be able to talk through your experiences afterward too, sharing your challenges and accomplishments.

Plus, you’ll always be accountable if someone is relying on you to get fit with them – there will be much less chance for slacking off.

Do Something Productive While You Work Out

It’s not always convenient to actually bring a friend with you when you’re exercising, but when I take walks, I love to chat with a friend on the phone. It makes the time pass so much quicker and it’s a great way to stay in touch.

Or you can do other productive things while you workout, like listen to podcasts or audio books. That’s one way to actually enjoy exercise because you’ll look forward to that time.

Don’t Eat Before A Workout

Many people think they have to eat something before they start exercising because it will give them energy for their workout.

The problem is that when you eat something that’s unhealthy or is too large of a portion, you can make the exercise session very uncomfortable. You might develop heartburn or a cramp, or you might find moving around is more difficult.

Feeling that way can make you miserable while you’re working out. The best thing to do is wait until after your workout session to eat your main meal. You’ll feel better; therefore, you’ll know how to enjoy exercise more.

If you’re hungry, have a snack, such as a piece of fruit or an energy bar to help you. You might even want to add Shredz Women to give you a boost before you start exercising.

Stretch & You’ll Have Less Pain

Sometimes, the reason for not enjoying exercise is the pain that it brings. If you’ve worked hard, you might be sore the next day, and your muscles could be stiff and painful.

If this happens every time you work out, it would make sense for you to feel like you don’t want to exercise. No one wants to be in pain all the time, even if that pain is linked to something good.

The problem might be a lack of stretching. When you stretch before you start to exercise, your muscles will be warmer and looser. This means you’ll be putting less strain on them when you’re running, swimming, dancing, or whatever else you might choose to do.

And the next day, if you’ve stretched well, there might be some discomfort, but the pain level will be much lower.

Just Do 5 Minutes

The thought of doing 20-40 minutes of exercise is enough to make us dread it. So, just do five minutes! Jump on your treadmill, do some strength training, or do some yoga stretches or a few pilates moves.

You’re also likely to find that if you just commit to five minutes, you’ll end up doing more than that because once you get going, it’s not so bad.

It’s a good idea to start any kind of new exercise gently. If you take your time and build up your workout level, you’ll feel much more comfortable and see better results than if you try too hard all at once.
