Find Happiness, Inspiration and Health This Year: 3 Step Action Plan

INSIDE: Is this your year to finally find happiness, inspiration and health? Discover my 3 step action plan to to help you do it in this article.

You want to be happy, inspired and healthy everyday, but then life happens

Your boss yells at you, your car breaks down, your kids aren’t behaving the way you want them to, etc.

And then there’s the craziness of life in general…

Running the kids from activity to activity, trying to keep up with the laundry, trying to make ends meet, etc.

Life can sometimes feel like the doldrums.

Why We All Need a Daily Dose of Happy

It’s difficult to maintain a positive mindset when life is so chaotic and when frustrating things happen. That’s why it’s important to read, watch, listen to, or otherwise engage in positive stuff on a daily basis – it helps us maintain a healthy mindset, and a healthy mindset is everything in life.

When your mindset is positive, you feel happier, you have more energy, you attract positive things, and life is actually easier. Sign me up for that, right?

Find Happiness, Inspiration & Health This Year

Now, let’s move on and get you that 3-step action plan I promised…

Step 1: Take Responsibility For Your Mindset

The number one way I have found to bring more happiness into my life is to get my mindset in the right place.

It’s not just about “thinking positively.” It’s more of a way of being.

It’s deciding once and for all that you are going to have a mindset that attracts the good stuff to you – that you are going to control your thoughts instead of giving in to every fleeting thought that passes your mind as if you have no control.

The fact of the matter is we all have control over what we think.

Are Your Thoughts Productive?

Yes, fleeting thoughts will enter our minds, but we can choose whether to grab onto them and run with them or to let them go and replace them with more productive thoughts.

Until you accept that truth, you will always struggle to find happiness – it’s really as simple as that.

I know this as fact because I’ve often given up control of my thoughts, and I struggled because of it. It wasn’t until I accepted responsibility for my mindset that I started to see things turn around for me.

Happiness really is a choice. You’ll either read that and roll your eyes because you aren’t ready to accept that truth, or you’ll take it in and decide to be responsible for your own happiness.

Step 2: Surround Yourself With Positive Stuff Everyday

It is way too easy to lose sight of positivity, especially if you are hanging around with people who tend to complain a lot or tend to see the negative aspects of people and situations.

It’s too easy to get wrapped up in the chaos and frustration of life. Things will happen and you can let life beat you down, or you can pad yourself with positivity. The way to do that is to surround yourself with daily inspiration and positive stuff.

Here are some examples of how to do that…

  • When you wake up in the morning, start your day by reading, watching or listening to something positive, and/or by writing about what you are grateful for.
  • Keep inspirational books in places where you have down time so you can get some extra positive juice into each day. For example, I when my last son was an infant, I kept several books around the house in places where I normally nurse him so I could use that time to gas up my mind with positive stuff. You might consider keeping one in the bathroom, in the car, in your purse, in your office, or anywhere else depending on what would make the most sense for you.
  • Write in a journal before bed about what was great about your day, what your positive wins are and what you are thankful for. Then, instead of lying in bed worrying about things, visualize what you want to manifest in your life.

Kiss the Negative Good-Bye

What goes hand-in-hand with this step is to limit or remove the negative stuff from your life. That might involve:

  • Spending less time with negative people
  • Not watching disturbing movies (or the news for that matter!)
  • Delegating tasks that you hate doing
  • Freeing yourself from damaging relationships
  • Empowering yourself to work toward changing the things about your life that make you unhappy instead of feeling stuck and miserable

Remember, happiness is a choice, and that choice needs to be made over and over again. It’s easier to make the “happiness choice” more often if your mind is being fed positive things. I can’t express the importance of this enough!

Step 3: Be More Intentional When Making Decisions That Affect Your Health

We can make getting healthy difficult or we can just take simple steps to get there. When we feel overwhelmed about leading a healthy lifestyle, we will simply procrastinate or avoid doing what needs to be done. In order to avoid overwhelm with regards to your health, simply be more intentional when making decisions that affect your health.

Will Your Health Thank You?

When you are going to eat a meal, ask yourself if your health would thank you for what you are eating. We all want to eat something unhealthy from time to time and that’s usually okay. Just choose those foods in moderation. The same thing goes for inactivity – when you are having a lazy day, set an intention to get some exercise the next day and then follow through.

Don’t Get Derailed

Simply make small decisions throughout the day that will support your wellness. When you decide to do something that is unhealthy, be intentional about that too by enjoying it with no regrets and then get back on track. Don’t let one decision derail you.

Ignorance is Not Your Friend

Don’t let ignorance steer you wrong. Make a point to learn about what you can do to improve your health. Even if you’ve learned a lot about leading a healthy lifestyle, new information is always coming out so it is never a once and done thing.
